Exciting opportunity to plant some natives over Quail Island. If you're keen, then read more below!
Otamahua/Quail Island Ecological Restoration Trust offers tree planting opportunities at the island for the weekends of August. More about the trust here.
The trust provides everything apart from your own packed lunch and drink bottle. Wear warm, comfy clothes that you don't mind having dirt all over. SVA will provide gardening gloves.
Unfortunately, you'll have to secure your own transpo going towards Lyttelton and back. The purple bus goes straight to Lyttelton from the Riccarton Area.
Everyone needs to be by the harbour before 9 AM as the ferry leaves by then. I will be at the corner of Norwich Quay and Oxford Street to direct you guys towards the harbour.
The tree planting bit usually runs up until around 1.30-2.00 PM (often earlier) and the rest is for you to wander and enjoy the island! How cool is that. :)
