Faces of Service: Cora

Introducing this month’s Faces of Service, Cora ⭐

Cora is a remarkable person supported by IDEA Services and a proud participant in the SVA Service Award. Cora has logged over 190 hours of volunteering and is fast on her way to earning an SVA Silver Pin 🏆

"I live in Waiuku with 3 other ladies and a cat called Nala. I have many friends, and I have lived in Waiuku most of my life. I like gardening and looking after my plants. I like walking to [the town] centre and meeting up with my friends.

I volunteer at the IHC Op Shop every week. I have been volunteering for more than two years now. I like volunteering because I get to leave the house and meet new people. I like sorting through the clothes and other items at the shop. I love to go to IHC Op Shop and engage with different people at the shop.

Receiving my [SVA Bronze] pin made me feel good. It was another challenge I had overcome, and it made me happy that I had achieved something. I feel like I have a goal in my life. My advice to other people thinking about volunteering? Go and have a look and try it out. It’s okay to go with a Support Worker if you need help." ✨
